Kindergarten students experienced a magical day Wednesday, December 18, with a celebration of the book The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg. The children arrived in their pajamas, and the day started with a reading of the original book. Many academic activities themed around the book kept the students learning while having fun. Lessons included math with marshmallows, writing about and sequencing the story, and creating their own pajamas in an art project. These projects are are hanging in the kindergarten hallways.
Mrs. Cordell visited and shared her new favorite Christmas book, The Sparkle Box by by Jill Hardie and Christine Kornacki. The day wrapped up with a viewing of the movie and a sprinkling of snow, which delighted the little ones.
