OLA students worked very hard to collect and recycle glue sticks and bottles as well as diaper wipe containers to accumulate 4,850 points from TerraCycle! These points were redeemed to the following organizations to improve the lives of needy people around the world:

Heifer International will provide a goose to three hungry family in a developing country. The geese can help a family add nourishing, life-sustaining eggs to their otherwise inadequate diets. Each goose’s first offspring will be passed onto another hungry family in the community, along with the necessary training, thereby creating a cycle of sustainability and self-sufficiency in the greater community at large.

Feeding America will provide a meal to an American family facing hunger. Feeding America helps provide low- income individuals and families with the fuel to survive and even thrive.

Charity: water will provide one year’s supply of clean drinking water to three people who otherwise would lack access to this most essential element. Charity: water partners with local organizations in 17 developing countries, mainly located in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. One hundred percent of our donation will be used to build water projects for people living in poverty, where access to a safe water supply is extremely limited and where rates of water-related death are high.

ShelterBox will send a gift of hats, gloves, and a scarf to provide hope and relief for someone, somewhere in the world, who is homeless due to disaster or conflict. ShelterBox instantly responds to disasters such as an earthquake, volcano, flood, hurricane, cyclone, tsunami or conflict by delivering these boxes of aid.
