In September, St Joseph’s in Marietta hosted Vocations Day for fifth grade students throughout the Archdiocese of Atlanta. At the end of the day, each school was presented with scrolls containing the picture, name, and address of a seminarian for the Archdiocese. Classes were asked to spiritually adopt these seminarians throughout the year.

In November, OLA fifth grade students sent packages to each of the six seminarians they have spiritually adopted. The packages included letters, Thanksgiving cards, and baked goods to those who were in the states. Unfortunately, sending baked goods to the two seminarians who are studying in the Vatican proved to be too costly.

Fifth grade teacher, Mrs. Berg, also included a card to the seminarians inviting each of them to come and visit the students whenever they may be in town. Two of these seminarians accepted the offer and visited the fifth grade students for a Question and Answer session on Monday, December 19. The students and teachers were all very excited about this visit. Over the past few months, these men have become like celebrities to the fifth grade students, and they were delighted to have this opportunity to meet them.

Thank you to Dan Fitzgerald and Evan Glowzinski for taking the time to visit and joyfully answer the many questions the students had.
