After four weeks of collecting donations for our Adopt-A Family project, Catholic Charities came to pick up all of the welcome baskets, which they will give to refugees who are in need. OLA Catholic School, along with the preschool, was able to provide a record number of supplies to Catholic Charities.
From the donations, committee members were able to assemble twenty-one kitchen kits, twenty-one bathroom kits, twenty-one cleaning kits, and nineteen bedroom kits. Moylan Hall was completely filled with brand new supplies that will help so many families. There were even bikes, cribs, and televisions donated!
We wish each of you could have seen how many item the school and the preschool collected! Catholic Charities brought a U-Haul truck to collect the donations, and we are proud to say that it was completely full when they left!
Thank you to each and every family at OLA and the preschool for their generosity and support with this project. Every time we reflect on it, it warms our hearts to be a part of such a wonderful community! We are all so blessed to be among such caring, thoughtful, and generous families and faculty.
Below is picture of some of the welcome baskets. This picture shows only a third baskets we assembled — there were so many baskets that there was no way to get them all in one photo! A special thank you to 3B for making a beautiful tablecloth for a family to enjoy for years to come. Each third grade student in Mrs. Martin’s class decorated a Mercy cross, which was ironed on to the tablecloth. Thank you Nicole Godbey and Jane Orman for leading such a beautiful project.
A huge thank you to all of the Spiritual Angels and the entire Spiritual Life Committee. Without your volunteer efforts, this project could not be such a huge success!
God’s Blessings to you and your families,
Ashley Feldman and Emily Edwards
Spiritual Life Co-Chairs
