Flag Raising

At the beginning of each year, we gather as a school to express our patriotism with a flag raising ceremony. Eighth grade students prepare and raise the flag, and the school community joins together in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and singing the National Anthem. The event is simple, respectful, and powerful.

Penny Wars

One of the activities for Catholic Schools Week at OLA is “Penny Wars.” Students donate pennies to their homeroom to earn “points” for their class and may sabotage other classrooms by bringing in nickels, dimes, quarters, and bills. Adopt-a-Family

For many years, our school has supported Catholic Charities’ Refugee Resettlement Program with the Adopt-a-Family project. Parent-volunteer “Spiritual Angels” visit classrooms to explain how OLA, through Catholic Charities, can help refugee families. Our generous parents donate items fulfilling basic needs, and we pray together for these families as they start their new lives.
